TheRetreat: Ancestral Dreaming in the Heart of Avalon

A 4‑Day Dream Incubation Retreat in Glastonbury. A co‑created retreat held by Bev Banduri healing Arts & Melissa Spirit of the Bee

In the heart of Avalon, where hill, spring, and sky meet, a river of ancient dreaming still flows. For four days, you are invited to step into that river, to soften, to listen, and to rediscover the wisdom that rises when the body rests and the spirit opens.

This retreat reawakens the ancestral British practice of sleep incubation, dreaming with intention for healing, guidance, and renewal. Held within the powerful landscape of Glastonbury, you will walk sacred paths, receive ritual anointing, enter the dream‑temple, and awaken with messages shaped by land, lineage, and the unseen world

Glastonbury is a living temple, a place where myth and earth braid together. The Tor, the White Spring, Chalice Well, and the ancient oaks of Gog & Magog form a ritual landscape that has been used for thousands of years for ceremony, healing, and initiation.

Here, dreams speak differently. Here, the veil thins. Here, the ancestors whisper.

What You Will Experience

An Opening Through the Veil

A shared‑food ritual begins our time together, each guest brings a cooked or bought item that carries a story of who they are. We weave sound, breath, and intention to open the dream‑temple.

Descent & Creative Work

A day of softening, crafting, wandering Glastonbury town, and resting in Mendip View’s swimming pool and sauna. Fire‑pit stories deepen the group bond.

Awen Anointing & Incubation Night

You receive a full‑body anointing with Awen energy, a rite of awakening and remembrance. Private access to the White Spring offers silence, reflection, and optional immersion. A silent pilgrimage to the Tor prepares you for the night of dreams.

Dream Incubation

You enter the sanctuary. Sleep incubation is held until 1am, guided by rattle and drumming. Upon waking, you record your dream through painted images, drawings, or written words the language of the subconscious made visible.

Dream Integration

A day of rest, nourishment, and gentle reflection. Each dreamer receives a 30‑minute oracle reading and group interpretation. Offerings are burned in ceremony to honour what was carried and what remains.

The Return

A slow morning, shared food, and a final circle with no meditation, simply presence.

An Invitation

“When you walk the ancient paths of Glastonbury, you walk between worlds. Each step whispers of old rites; each dream speaks in the tongue of Avalon. Come rest your body, open your heart, and listen to the dream that waits beneath the hills.”

Why Sleep Incubation?

Sleep incubation is an ancient practice of entering the dream‑realm with intention — a way of asking the unseen world for guidance, healing, clarity, and soul‑rest.

When we consciously prepare the body, soften the nervous system, and step into a held ritual space, dreams shift. They become teachers, messengers, and mirrors.

People come to this work when:

  • They feel a threshold approaching

  • They need direction or answers

  • They long for ancestral connection

  • They crave deep rest beyond ordinary sleep

  • They sense something within them waiting to be heard

What You Will Feel

During incubation, most people experience:

  • A sense of being held by something older than themselves

  • A softening of the body and a loosening of old patterns

  • A feeling of returning to themselves

  • A deep, almost ancient peace

  • A clarity that rises from the subconscious like mist from the Tor

  • A connection to the land, the ancestors, and the inner voice

Dreams often come through as:

  • Symbols

  • Colours

  • Landscapes

  • Archetypes

  • Emotions

  • Messages

  • Visitations

  • Or simply a feeling that stays with you

All of these are valid. All of these are part of the work.

The Outcome

Sleep incubation can bring:

  • Guidance on life direction

  • Insight into relationships, purpose, or next steps

  • Release of old emotional weight

  • Renewal of energy and clarity

  • Connection to ancestral or spiritual lineage

  • A sense of being re‑aligned with your deeper self

Many people describe it as:

“A reset for the soul.”

Why the 5‑Day Integration Check‑In Matters

Dreams don’t end when you wake. They continue to unfold in the days that follow, through synchronicities, emotions, insights, and subtle shifts in behaviour.

The 5‑day post‑retreat Zoom session is vital because:

  • It helps you anchor the dream’s message

  • It supports you through the after‑effects of deep ritual work

  • It allows space for questions, clarifications, and new insights

  • It ensures the dream doesn’t fade — but becomes integrated into your life

  • It provides a safe container for anything that arises after returning home

Integration is where the magic becomes real, practical, and embodied.

Reconnect with your body and mind as you escape the noise of everyday life.
